MEMU FROM CUTTACK - BERHAMPUR WILL EXTENDED TO PARADIP

Good news for train passengers of Pradip. The MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) train service will be introduced in Cuttack - Paradip RAilway section from October 8, said East Coast Railway. According to source, the MEMU Train service between Berhampur - Cuttack which was introduced in June this year will be extended to Pradip replacing the Cuttack - Paradip.

The MEMU Train number 68434/68433 Berhampur - Cuttack - Berhampur with 12 coaches runs between Berhampur - Cuttack six days a week. The MEMU train was introduced on the route replacing Berhampur - Cuttack - Berhampur fast passanger. And the Cuttack - Paradip - Cuttack Memu Train Number is 58535/58536.

The Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) is the Indian Railways designation of the commuter rail system in India for Semi-Urban and Rural areas. The trains differ from the normal Electric Multiple Units that are designed for Urban and Semi-Urban areas.

The first MEMU service in India was started in Bilaspur Railway Division of South Eastern Railway Zone on 17th October 1995 on Raipur - Durg - Bhatapara - Raipur - Bilaspur route. The first 20 coach MEMU ran between Surat - Bihar in 2017.
